Abstract: This research examines the role of vocational education in economic development in Nigeria, exploring its contributions to workforce preparation, employment generation, and sustainable economic growth. Vocational education plays a critical role in equipping individuals with practical skills and competencies essential for meeting industry demands and driving economic productivity. The study aims to (1) assess the impact of vocational education on skill development, employment outcomes, and economic empowerment, (2) analyze policies and initiatives supporting vocational education's role in economic development, and (3) propose strategies for enhancing vocational education's contribution to economic growth and resilience. A survey research design is employed to gather insights from policymakers, industry leaders, and vocational graduates. A sample size of 400 participants will be chosen through purposive sampling to represent government agencies, private sector employers, and vocational training providers in Delta State. Case studies will examine successful vocational education programs contributing to local economic development. Findings indicated positive correlations between vocational training, employment rates, and economic productivity, with disparities in regional accessibility and resource allocation posing challenges. Recommendations include aligning vocational programs with local industry needs, incentivizing private sector partnerships, and advocating for policy frameworks that prioritize vocational education as a driver of economic development and inclusive growth.
